DRDO and the Kalyani Group have revealed a significantly enhanced version of the Wheeled Armoured Platform (WhAP) 8×8, transforming it into a more capable infantry combat vehicle. The upgraded platform features a combat-proven 30mm 2A42 autocannon, a coaxial PKT machine gun, and provisions for MPATGM anti-tank guided missiles or loitering munitions. Advanced battlefield technologies include Safran’s PASEO sighting system, hunter-killer targeting capability, a remote weapon station, and Saab’s laser warning system. Amphibious performance has also been improved through pump-jet propulsion and enhanced buoyancy features. These upgrades strengthen the vehicle’s lethality, survivability, and situational awareness while supporting operations across diverse battlefield environments.
