Indonesia and Australia are expanding their defense partnership by exploring trilateral cooperation with Japan and Papua New Guinea, alongside increased intelligence sharing. The move follows a recently signed security agreement that commits both nations to consult each other in case of threats. Discussions also include the use of Indonesian military facilities for joint training activities involving regional partners. The initiative reflects a broader effort to strengthen regional security cooperation and address emerging threats in the Indo-Pacific. By enhancing coordination and collaboration, both countries aim to improve collective defense readiness and stability in the region.
