The United States has approved military helicopter sales worth more than $4 billion to South Korea, including 24 MH-60R Seahawk naval helicopters and upgrades for the country’s Apache attack helicopter fleet. The Seahawk package alone is valued at $3 billion and will enhance South Korea’s anti-submarine warfare and maritime strike capabilities. A separate $1.2-billion package covers modernization support for Apache helicopters already in service. The approvals align with Seoul’s pledge to increase purchases of American defense equipment as part of broader alliance commitments and regional security cooperation.
