The US State Department has approved a potential $540-million package to support sustainment and operational readiness for Canada’s fleet of C-17 Globemaster III strategic airlifters. The proposed deal includes spare parts, aircraft maintenance equipment, repair services, consumables, accessories, and ground support systems, with Boeing acting as the principal contractor. The support package is intended to maintain the Royal Canadian Air Force’s five-aircraft C-17 fleet, which has been operational since 2007 and serves critical airlift, humanitarian, and military deployment missions.
