India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is developing an indigenous Atomic Co-Magnetometer Gyroscope (ACMG) prototype to advance next-generation quantum sensing and inertial navigation capabilities. Leveraging quantum properties instead of conventional mechanical or optical technologies, the ACMG is designed to deliver highly accurate rotational measurements with minimal drift and exceptional long-term stability. The technology is expected to significantly enhance navigation in GPS-denied environments for military aircraft, missiles, submarines, spacecraft, and autonomous platforms. Beyond defense, the system could support aerospace and deep-space missions while strengthening India’s growing capabilities in strategic quantum technologies.
