US Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), in collaboration with SOFWERX, has initiated a competitive program to acquire a synthetic data generation capability aimed at training computer vision models for autonomous unmanned systems. The effort falls under the Unmanned Systems Autonomy and Interoperability (UxSAI) program and seeks to improve how artificial intelligence-enabled drones identify, classify, track, and analyze targets across air, land, and maritime environments. By leveraging synthetic data, USSOCOM intends to accelerate machine learning development while reducing dependence on costly real-world datasets. The initiative is expected to enhance the performance, interoperability, and autonomy of heterogeneous unmanned platforms used in special operations missions.
