Northrop Grumman has delivered the 70th E-2D Advanced Hawkeye to the US Navy, highlighting continued production momentum for the carrier-based surveillance aircraft. Developed to replace the older E-1 Tracer, the E-2D conducted its first flight in 2007 and entered service in 2014. It functions as a key airborne command-and-control platform, offering 360-degree radar coverage and real-time data sharing across joint forces. Equipped with advanced sensors, communication systems, and twin turboprop engines, the aircraft supports operations from carriers and remote bases. With over 80 units planned through 2040, the E-2D remains central to naval aviation strategy and integrated battlefield awareness.
