Boeing’s Remote Vision System 2.0 for the KC-46 tanker has completed its first flight in Seattle, launching the final test campaign before US Air Force certification. RVS 2.0 delivers 4K full-color resolution, 3D imagery, and panoramic cameras to improve boom-operator visibility during refueling. The system will undergo months of further flight trials, including contact testing with receiver aircraft. The Air Force had originally planned deployment in 2023, but technical setbacks delayed the schedule. Boeing and the service agreed in 2019 to redesign the original RVS, which caused delivery holds and operational concerns. The milestone supports Boeing’s broader modernization work, from MQ-25 naval refueling drone development to improved radar and avionics for the F-15EX, as well as digital twin efforts improving fleet readiness for C-17 and C-130 aircraft.
