US Army aviation units stationed in South Korea have demonstrated long-range operational capability during the Talon Reach exercise, successfully flying over 1,300 miles before executing a simulated island assault mission. The exercise involved AH-64 Apache, UH-60 Black Hawk, and CH-47 Chinook helicopters, supported by drone units and forward refueling points. Conducted by the 2nd Combat Aviation Brigade, the drills showcased coordinated air assault, medical evacuation, and strike operations. The use of multiple refueling sites enabled continuous operations without returning to base, highlighting logistical efficiency. The exercise reflects extensive preparation over 20 months, culminating in a complex, multi-domain mission designed to enhance readiness and interoperability on the Korean Peninsula.
