Boeing has received a new contract to supply four additional MH-139A Grey Wolf helicopters to the U.S. Air Force, continuing the service’s modernization of its rotary-wing fleet. The latest order follows previous contracts for eight and 26 aircraft, bringing total orders to 38 helicopters, with 21 already delivered. The MH-139A replaces the aging UH-1N Huey fleet and offers substantially greater speed, range, and payload capacity. Based on the Leonardo AW139 and militarized by Boeing, the Grey Wolf supports missions including nuclear security, emergency response, troop transport, and convoy escort. Delivered aircraft have already participated in operational training, including nuclear transport missions, underscoring the platform’s growing role in critical homeland and overseas operations.
