Germany’s arms procurement agency has contracted Turbo-Technik to integrate the newly introduced NH90 Sea Tiger maritime helicopter onto the German Navy’s F124-class frigates. The work includes structural modifications to the ships’ flight decks and hangars, along with installation of the interfaces and maintenance systems required to support helicopter operations at sea. Once fully integrated, the NH90 Sea Tiger will replace the aging Sea Lynx Mk88A fleet, which has been in service since the early 1980s. Germany ordered 31 Sea Tiger helicopters in 2020 under a 2.7-billion-euro procurement program and received the first aircraft in late 2025. Designed for anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare, the helicopter is equipped with advanced avionics, torpedoes, missiles, dipping sonar, and sonobuoy systems to improve maritime surveillance and underwater threat detection.
