Germany has awarded Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace a 3.5-billion-krone contract to procure additional Joint Strike Missiles for its future fleet of 35 F-35 Lightning II fighter jets. The acquisition follows a previous agreement managed through Norway and makes Germany the fifth international customer for the stealth-compatible cruise missile. Designed to fit inside the F-35’s internal weapons bay, the JSM can strike naval and land targets at ranges up to 350 kilometers while preserving the aircraft’s low-observable profile. The deal also reflects expanding defense cooperation between Berlin and Oslo on missile systems and submarine programs.
