Lockheed Martin has received a $74.2-million US Navy contract modification to integrate United Kingdom- and Italy-specific weapons into the F-35 Lightning II under the Block 4 modernization program. The work includes system integration, development testing, and support for a common tactical data recorder across all F-35 variants. The project will enhance interoperability for European operators while enabling the aircraft to carry advanced indigenous weapons such as the Meteor air-to-air missile and SPEAR 3 precision strike missile. Development activities are scheduled to continue through December 2032.
