Reliance Industries and Rolls-Royce have announced their strategic intent to partner on the design, development, manufacturing, and delivery of an indigenous combat engine for India’s Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) program. The proposed collaboration could include the establishment of a dedicated Aerospace Gas Turbine Complex in India to serve as a center of excellence for propulsion and power technologies. The partnership would combine Rolls-Royce’s expertise in advanced aero-engine technology with Reliance’s manufacturing capabilities, industrial scale, and execution strength. The companies aim to establish an end-to-end Indian capability covering engine design, development, manufacturing, testing, production, and through-life support. The initiative is aligned with India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision and the broader objective of developing sovereign capabilities in critical aerospace technologies. Beyond the AMCA program, the proposed complex could support future opportunities across defense, civil aerospace, and emerging propulsion technologies, potentially strengthening India’s position in advanced aerospace engineering and manufacturing.
