Boeing has finalized an $876.4-million agreement to deliver up to 60 CH-47F Block II Chinook helicopters to the US Army, a move that strengthens the service’s future heavy-lift capabilities. The contract covers training, logistics sustainment, and non-recurring engineering activities, with work taking place in Ridley Park, Pennsylvania, through October 2035. Funding for the order will come from fiscal 2026 Germany case funds and be overseen by the Army Contracting Command at Redstone Arsenal. The CH-47F Block II variant incorporates major upgrades such as a reinforced airframe, improved drivetrain, advanced avionics, and a redesigned fuel system that collectively enhance payload capacity, range, survivability, and future modernization potential. The US Army intends to convert more than 400 CH-47F Block I helicopters to this new standard. Recent Chinook procurements include a $461-million order for nine aircraft and a $135-million deal for three platforms. The CH-47F measures 98 feet in length, with 80-foot rotors, and can transport up to 55 troops, 24,000 pounds of cargo, or up to 20 stretchers. Powered by twin Honeywell T55-GA-714A engines producing 4,700 horsepower each, the helicopter reaches speeds of 170 knots and offers a 1,200-nautical-mile range with a 20,000-foot service ceiling.
