Switzerland is evaluating alternative air defense systems amid major delays affecting deliveries of the Patriot missile defense system previously ordered from the United States. Swiss procurement officials have reportedly contacted manufacturers from Germany, France, Israel, and South Korea to gather information on possible solutions capable of complementing or replacing delayed systems. Among the likely candidates are Eurosam’s SAMP/T, Diehl Defence’s IRIS-T, Hanwha’s Cheongung II, Rafael’s David’s Sling, and Israel Aerospace Industries’ Arrow systems. The reassessment follows delays of up to five years in Patriot deliveries caused by shifting defense priorities linked to the Ukraine conflict.
