Research Centre Imarat has successfully conducted the maiden flight trial of the Tactical Advanced Range Augmentation (TARA) system, an indigenous glide bomb kit developed to transform conventional gravity bombs into precision-guided munitions. Featuring deployable wings, GPS-assisted inertial navigation, and electro-optical seekers, the system is expected to deliver strike ranges of up to 180 kilometers with high targeting accuracy. The capability is intended to reduce India’s reliance on imported smart bomb kits while enabling cost-effective precision strike operations for the Indian Air Force.
