Australia has successfully tested its first domestically manufactured Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System missile during a live-fire event at Woomera Test Range in South Australia. Fired from an M142 HIMARS launcher, the missile demonstrated progress in Canberra’s effort to establish sovereign precision-strike production. GMLRS uses inertial guidance to hit targets beyond 70 kilometers with high accuracy. Data from the firing will support certification testing scheduled next year and future local production of weapons such as the Precision Strike Missile. The milestone also strengthens Australia’s Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance enterprise led by Lockheed Martin Australia.
