India’s long-range anti-ship missile initiative, often described as a “carrier-killer” capability, has reportedly advanced beyond initial development with three developmental trials already completed. The program is now preparing for user trials with the Indian Navy, marking a key transition toward operational validation. While full induction remains targeted for 2029–2030, there are indications that limited deployment through Limited Series Production could occur earlier, particularly for land-based coastal batteries. The system is expected to support India’s broader anti-access/area denial strategy in the Indian Ocean Region by threatening adversary carrier groups and major naval assets operating near Indian waters.
