MBDA has signed an agreement with the Indian Air Force to establish a dedicated Maintenance, Repair, and Mid-Life Overhaul (MRO) facility for MICA air-to-air missiles in India. Under the arrangement, MBDA will provide specialized machinery, tooling, technical documentation, training, and engineering assistance, while the IAF will oversee the facility’s setup, operation, and long-term maintenance. The initiative is aimed at strengthening India’s domestic sustainment capability, reducing turnaround times for missile servicing, and supporting the government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat strategy focused on defense self-reliance. The MICA missile family currently equips the IAF’s Rafale and upgraded Mirage 2000 fighter fleets for beyond-visual-range and close-combat operations.
