Anduril Industries has secured a significant Pentagon contract aimed at rapidly expanding production of the Barracuda-500M containerized cruise missile, reflecting the US military’s growing emphasis on scalable and low-cost precision strike systems. The agreement calls for the delivery of at least 3,000 missiles and associated launch systems over the next several years, supporting the Ground-Launched Low-Cost Containerized Munition initiative. Designed for high-volume production, the Barracuda-500M uses mostly commercial components and open-architecture technologies to simplify manufacturing and reduce supply chain vulnerabilities. The missile can be assembled quickly using common tools and launched from standard shipping-container-based systems, making it highly deployable and operationally flexible. With a range exceeding 500 nautical miles and support for autonomous operations through Anduril’s Lattice software ecosystem, the missile is intended for coordinated long-range strikes against both land and maritime targets. The program is also driving major investments in American missile production infrastructure as Washington seeks to rapidly expand munitions stockpiles.
