The UK Ministry of Defence has awarded Boeing Defence UK an 879-million-pound contract to maintain the British Army’s Apache helicopters and Royal Air Force Chinook fleet. The three-year agreement covers logistics, maintenance, technical support, and training under the Rotary Wing Enterprise framework. Officials say consolidating both fleets under one support structure will improve readiness and reduce inefficiencies. More than 700 Boeing UK jobs and another 500 supply-chain positions will be sustained, with apprenticeship opportunities also increasing. The deal comes as Britain continues wider helicopter modernization efforts, including future medium-lift procurement and experimentation with autonomous and crewed-uncrewed rotary-wing concepts.
