Godrej Aerospace has emerged as a leading contender for India’s Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) engine initiative as Gas Turbine Research Establishment expands its search for industrial partners under the Development-cum-Production Partner framework. The proposed Advanced High-Thrust Class Engine (AHTCE), being jointly pursued with Safran, is intended to generate 110–120 kN thrust for the future AMCA Mk-2 stealth fighter. The project is strategically important for India because it seeks to establish an indigenous fighter-engine ecosystem and reduce long-term reliance on imported propulsion systems. Industry sources indicate that the engine will involve more than 2,300 components, 23,000 individual parts, and 11 major subsystems, demanding extensive industrial coordination and precision manufacturing capability.
