The United States has cleared a $100-million support package for C-130 Hercules aircraft that could pave the way for Vietnam’s future adoption of the transport platform. The proposed sale includes sustainment services, repair support, training, software, spare parts, and logistics assistance intended to ensure long-term operational readiness. Analysts view the package as a strong indication that Vietnam may soon acquire C-130 aircraft, potentially expanding its strategic airlift capacity. The move aligns with US efforts to strengthen defense cooperation with regional partners while enhancing Vietnam’s transport aviation capabilities.
