Leonardo has secured an order to provide Romania with two new C-27J Spartan transport aircraft under an EU-backed procurement initiative. The advanced aircraft will support a wide range of missions, including humanitarian assistance, emergency response, firefighting, and biohazard transport operations. Equipped with modern avionics and flexible mission kits, the new Spartans will improve operational versatility and fleet efficiency. The purchase forms part of Romania’s broader efforts to strengthen resilience and security capabilities amid evolving regional challenges linked to the conflict in neighboring Ukraine.
