The US Army has awarded Raytheon a nearly $699-million contract to supply NASAMS units to Taiwan, reinforcing its defense posture as China increases air and missile activity around the island. The system employs AMRAAM interceptors and a distributed architecture combining launchers, Sentinel radar, and optical sensors. Later NASAMS variants add Link 16 connectivity and expanded missile options, enabling long-range, high-altitude engagements and improved survivability through dispersed assets.
