Rafael Advanced Defense Systems has secured a multi-billion-dollar contract to expand Iron Dome interceptor production, strengthening Israel’s missile defense capacity as regional threats persist. The agreement ensures delivery of a significant number of Tamir missiles to the Israel Defense Forces. It is the outcome of coordination between the Israel Missile Defense Organization, the US Missile Defense Agency, and Rafael. The initiative is supported by funding from the $8.7-billion US aid bill enacted in April 2024, which designated $5.2 billion for Israel’s layered air defense systems. The contract comes alongside growing US-Israel industrial collaboration, including a recent $1.25-billion order awarded to the Raytheon-Rafael R2S joint venture to produce Tamir interceptors and establish a manufacturing site in Arkansas. The Arkansas facility will accelerate output and later assemble SkyHunter missiles for the US Marine Corps, enhancing shared defense capacity.
