The US Navy is upgrading its firepower by adding hypersonic missiles to the USS Zumwalt through a $1.35-billion deal with Lockheed Martin. This upgrade replaces older gun systems with powerful missile launch tubes that can carry advanced hypersonic weapons. These missiles can travel over 2,700 kilometers, allowing the ship to strike targets from very long distances. The Zumwalt, originally designed for coastal missions, is now being turned into a powerful long-range strike platform. More ships and submarines are also expected to receive this technology in the future. This move highlights the Navy’s focus on faster, longer-range weapons that can dominate modern warfare.
