Sierra Space has been awarded a $798-million contract by the US Space Development Agency to develop 18 advanced missile warning and tracking satellites for the Accelerated Missile Defense Tranche 3 (AMDT3) Tracking Layer, a critical component of the future Golden Dome missile defense architecture. Built on the company’s Horizon spacecraft platform, the satellites will provide persistent space-based detection and tracking of ballistic, hypersonic, and advanced missile threats across multiple phases of flight. The award builds on Sierra Space’s ongoing Tranche 2 program, where spacecraft structures have already been completed and are progressing toward qualification and system verification testing. The Golden Dome initiative seeks to establish a layered network of orbital sensors and interceptors capable of protecting the US homeland through continuous space surveillance and integrated missile defense. The latest contract further strengthens America’s investment in resilient space infrastructure while supporting rapid deployment of next-generation missile warning capabilities.
