Astra Microwave Products is expecting formal production orders for the first three regiments of India’s Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missile system before the end of 2026, potentially creating a significant new revenue opportunity for the defense electronics company. Astra has already supplied critical electronic subsystems for the indigenous air-defense program and is preparing to participate in its production phase. The QRSAM system is being developed for the Indian Army to provide highly mobile short-range air defense for mechanized formations and other high-value assets. It combines mobile launchers, missiles, surveillance and tracking radars, command-and-control systems, and supporting equipment. The expected production orders would be particularly important for Astra as the company expands its involvement in major indigenous defense programs. The QRSAM opportunity is also expected to contribute to the company’s revenues as the program moves from development and subsystem supply toward larger-scale production. Astra’s participation reflects the increasing role of Indian private-sector companies in converting indigenous defense development programs into sustained manufacturing and production opportunities.
