Lockheed Martin has achieved a major production milestone with the delivery of its 750th High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) launcher, underscoring the system’s enduring role in the modernization of US Army and allied long-range precision fire capabilities. Introduced in 2005, HIMARS has become a central element of the US Army’s Precision Fires portfolio, combining mobility, firepower, and rapid deployment to deliver decisive battlefield effects. The milestone comes amid expanding global demand for precision rocket artillery systems. Production at Lockheed Martin’s Camden, Arkansas facility has doubled output over the past year—from 48 to 96 launchers annually—driven by a $2.9 billion contract with the US Army. The investment supports facility modernization, new tooling, and workforce expansion, as well as improved supply chain resilience through a nationwide network of small and medium-sized suppliers providing precision-engineered components. HIMARS’ modular launcher design allows seamless integration of next-generation munitions, including the Precision Strike Missile (PrSM) and Extended Range Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (ER-GMLRS). This adaptability has made it a cornerstone of future multi-domain operations (MDO) strategies, supporting both US and allied forces in rapid, distributed strike missions. The system’s global footprint has expanded significantly, with 14 partner nations now operating HIMARS. Recent deliveries include Estonia’s first six units in 2025 to bolster NATO’s eastern defenses and Italy’s procurement of 21 launchers to strengthen its precision strike capabilities. In the Indo-Pacific, Australia integrated HIMARS into joint exercises such as Talisman Sabre 2025, while Taiwan conducted live-fire trials as part of its deterrence modernization initiative. Beyond new orders, HIMARS continues to evolve as a platform of choice for nations seeking rapid, mobile, and survivable precision firepower. The launcher’s long-term roadmap emphasizes compatibility with networked targeting systems, autonomous fire control, and rapid reload technologies. Lockheed Martin’s latest milestone highlights HIMARS’ position as one of the most battle-proven and scalable artillery systems in modern warfare, reinforcing its critical contribution to allied defense readiness.
