Lithuania has placed a 3-billion-krona ($326 million) order with Saab to ensure continued supplies of Bolide short-range air defense missiles for its RBS 70 NG systems. The purchase falls under a broader framework agreement with Sweden’s Defence Materiel Administration and supports Lithuania’s layered air defense modernization. Deliveries will take place between 2028 and 2032. The Bolide missile offers improved speed, range, and lethality over earlier RBS 70 variants and uses laser beam-riding guidance resistant to electronic jamming. Recent acquisitions of mobile SHORAD systems integrating RBS 70 NG with Giraffe radars further enhance Lithuania’s ability to counter aircraft, cruise missiles, and drones.
