Lockheed Martin has received a $142.6 million contract modification to continue sustainment support for the United Arab Emirates’ Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) missile defense system under the U.S. Foreign Military Sales program. The award raises the total value of the ongoing sustainment contract to $876.7 million and reflects the strategic importance of maintaining high-readiness missile defense capabilities in the Gulf region. Under the agreement, Lockheed Martin Space will provide logistics, training, hardware and software upgrades, system repairs, field surveillance, and specialized engineering support tailored to the UAE’s operational environment. Work will be conducted across multiple U.S. locations as well as within the Emirates, with performance spanning from early 2026 through mid-2028. THAAD forms the upper tier of the UAE’s integrated air and missile defense architecture, providing exo-atmospheric interception of short- and medium-range ballistic missiles. The continued sustainment underscores Washington’s commitment to regional deterrence and long-term defense cooperation with key Gulf partners.
